Welcome to my Blog & News
Thanks for stopping by, I would be grateful of any comments you wish to make and also let me know if there is anything you would like to see here too
So far this year I have had the opportunity to attend 4 different events since May, now I know that doesn't sound like alot but when you take into account that I don't drive & walk my stock & other bits everywhere I don't think it's too bad!!
As always it's been a mixed bag of events but I have enjoyed each event I've attended & it's helping me by building awareness of my business. It also gives me an idea of what items people are interested in purchasing. If you follow me on Facebook/Instagram then you will also know I am currently finishing my first commission piece of work & I can also announce that I have another commission piece starting as well, so keeping busy in between times. Below are a few pictures from events as well as a couple of reviews I have received on Facebook 😀💃🥰🥰

Hello again, staying true to my word I'm back to give you some insight in to how the idea of Sharpe's Stitchers came into being.
So by now a few years had passed, and we had started running out of wall space for all the projects we had done. My Mum had been chatting to a friend at work who loved her stitching and asked her to make something for her daughters. When Mum came home she was excited to share her news and then we started talking about possibly making cards & small gifts to sell at local fairs & fetes. After much talking and looking into things we thought why not give it ago. So began the mammoth task of stitching many cards & gifts began, because then we needed to have enough stock to sell, but what is enough! My Mum, my Sister, a close family friend & myself started stitching, while still coming up with ideas of things we could do. After all there are soo many different greetings cards for all sorts of events, that would keep us going for ages, but also cards wasn't going to be the only thing. What sort of gifts could we do to! This lead to us going to craft fairs for ideas, which was great as we also got to see what sort of fairs would be good to go to as well & see lots of pretty things too. Win - win situation :) Even my Dad got roped into helping us, with the mounting of sewing into cards & notebooks. Making different types of apertures that the sewing fitted into and of course running us around to buy bits and pieces!! After a few months we felt we could be ready to take the plunge! The doubts crept in and so did the nerves. What if people didn't like our stuff, what if they thought the prices were bad, what if we failed?? But things went well and so Sharpe's Stitchers was more than just a dream, it was a reality now! Below are a couple of pictures from fairs that we did, unfortunately we didn't take many photos but we didn't really think about it at the time. Hello to you and thanks for stopping by.
I'm still quite new to the whole blogging thing but though I would give it a go anyways :) As you may of guessed from the title I thought the best way to start would be to tell you more about myself and how I got into cross stitching. It all started when I was in my early teens, back then I was scared of thunderstorms and during my summer holidays I was alone at home while my Mum & Dad were working. So while Mum & I were shopping one day we saw some printed cross stitch samplers which I said looked nice. So we bought a couple and all the other bits to go with them, threads, needles and a hoop. I was excited to start when we got home, so I curled up in a chair & started stitching, before I knew it a couple of hours had passed!! I was hooked and didn't even notice the storm that had been going on for about 20 minutes to my Mum & Dad's amazement! So that was the start of what has been called my obsession. But it worked and help me start to overcome a fear. (I now love a good storm but I think that might have more to do with being stuck on Skegness beach with a storm coming in from sea & storm going out to sea meeting above the beach when I was in my 20's!) Anyway back to the stitching, I carried on with the printed cross stitch samplers and then kits for a while but they became harder to find. By this time both my Mum & a family friend were also doing counted cross stitching. The difference is that the fabric they used was called Aida and you worked from a chart. I was abit nervous about making the switch as it seemed complicated. But after doing a few small items first it became second nature and I found it to be rewarding watching my stitching grow but also at times very frustrating when I went wrong, having to unpick my hard word, knotted threads. Many times I have launched my sewing across the room in frustration. But as with everything, if you keep at it you will learn & get better. I think I will stop at this point as I don't want to ramble on too much! I have popped some pictures below of some of my early work. |
